When I was a little girl, I could tell in an instant, as most kids can, when my parents were upset with me by the tone of their voice.
But there was one tone of voice my father took that had me completely captivated.
It was when he’d make sales calls from our home.
The transformation from being “my dad” to “Super Salesman” was fascinating.
His tone of voice changed. A great deal, as a matter of fact.
Before, his voice was a little softer and slightly higher in tone. My dad loves to laugh and would joke around quite often.
But on the phone, he was serious. At least getting through the gatekeepers was serious business.
His tone of voice conveyed authority, strength and confidence.
And he always seemed to get through to whomever he needed to talk to.
Seventeen years ago, the film “The Matrix” hit the theaters. It was a wild tale about the future and how things weren’t what they appeared to be.
In the film, the leader of the resistance, Morpheus, was trying to teach Neo how to use The Matrix to his advantage.
As Neo was learning ju-jitsu, Morpheus barked at him, “What are you waiting for? You’re faster than this. Don’t think you are, know you are. Come on. Stop trying to hit me and hit me.”
Don’t think you are.
Know you are.
That’s what buyers want. To do business with someone who has authority.
Your marketing needs to convey authority.
It takes a lot of time to acquire the skills to prove you’re an authority. But it’s not the only piece of the puzzle.
When you demonstrate confidence and self-assurance by the way you act, talk, and treat people… it’s inevitable that people will believe you have authority.
Your marketing strategy needs to first, identify the problem that needs a solution. Then it must position your business as the authoritative solution.
Does your marketing strategy do this?
I have a system that can help you achieve it.
