I heard a story about a car mechanic that had more business than he could handle. His business was in a large metropolitan area, with plenty of other garages competing for the same business. How did he do it?
His staff was attentive and responsive to their customers. Follow-up happened on a regular basis. And the employees loved working there because their boss figured out that if he could zone in on their passion and help them reach some personal goals, he’d have happier employees. He was right.
His success can be boiled down to a simple reason: He cares.
The way you achieve disruptive innovation, differentiate yourself from the competition and crush it is by caring enough to invest in your employees. They in turn will produce innovative solutions and treat your customers like kings and queens.
It’s really not rocket science, but I continue to be amazed by companies who don’t get this right.
