For CPA marketing, you need some new moves…
If you need some motivation regarding your CPA marketing, you’ve come to the right spot.
Every once in awhile, I dish out some tough love. And today is one of those days.
One of my “virtual mentors” is Gary Vaynerchuk.
For those who don’t know him, he’s an intense, passionate entrepreneur who took his family’s liquor store business from $3 million to $50 million in about seven years. He’s also an investor, author, public speaker, and internet personality.
Google some of his videos. They’re worth watching.
He gets a lot of questions from his followers, and during a recent video, he said the most common question is this: “I’ve tried this social media stuff, Gary, and it isn’t bringing me business.”
Gary asks: “How long have you been doing it?”
Typical answer: “Oh, about three months.”
Or “… a year…”
Gary then said that if you really want to see progress in your business, if you really want to see growth, then you put out content that people want.
If you’re a CPA and desire to grow your business…
It is time to move forward with your marketing. You do it with written copy, video or audio.
Work on your website and make sure it appeals to your target market. Meet prospects in person. Attend events and mingle.
The point is, you are consistently moving.
And you’re taking action. This takes a lot of time and effort. A LOT.
It’s not easy.
It’s not supposed to be easy.
If it were easy, everyone and your Aunt Hilda would be doing it.
CPA marketing is hard work…
The point is, owning your own CPA practice is hard work. And with marketing, you typically take two steps forward and one back.
You try one thing… it goes over like a lead balloon and then you try something else.
Maybe you keep doing this over and over and over again. Until one day you have a breakthrough.
Which gives you enough air to keep going.
This is the life of a CPA business owner.
It is most definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Here’s my question to you:
How badly do you want it?
How badly do you want your CPA practice to be successful?
And if the answer is, “Bad… real bad…” then my next question is this:
“What are you doing – on a daily basis – to get it?”
How much time are you willing to invest in your CPA marketing?
For me, about 75% of my work day is hustling.
Not writing client copy.
Yes, I have client work but I also am the sole marketer for Maguire Copywriting.
So that means all of my marketing efforts is up to yours truly.
The blog posts, the LinkedIn articles, the tweets on Twitter, the updates on Facebook…
Not to mention networking in my hometown and also giving live presentations.
Attending conferences. Networking again.
I’ve been doing this for years.
Not months.
And I still feel like I have miles to go before feeling like I’m making a dent in the universe.
I’m looking for those who are unhappy with their marketing.
I want Bravehearts in my tribe. People who are not satisfied with where they are right now in their business.
I want people who want to go the extra mile. Who have spouses like mine who watch me get up early to work and not come to bed until late at night.
I’m blessed. The Cowboy loves me so. He’s been my biggest fan every step of the way.
If you don’t have someone like that in your life, I’d like to step up to the plate.
Because we all need support in our lives to get to the top of the mountain.
I’m not sure how much you’ve invested in yourself or your business, but if you have done this already, now is the time to take action.
Stop consuming information. Stop wondering if your word-of-mouth dreams are going to get you the results you want.
Get out there and take a risk.
If you have no idea where to start, send me an email.
Tell me where you are, where you’d like to go and maybe I can help.
But remember… the action… the movement is entirely up to you.
If you fritter away your day… your week… and only put in a half-hearted attempt to grow your CPA practice, guess what?
You won’t get very far.
But if you’re willing to do the work, want success so badly you can taste it, then good. I want to hang with you.
I can be a Dr. Phil or an Oprah. But today I’m Dr. Phil. Only you can be completely honest with yourself and know what’s working – and what’s not.
Just like Gary Vee says, you’re only as good as your last win.
If you’re not moving forward with your CPA marketing in this hyper-competitive economy, then your competition has already left you breathing dust.
Wouldn’t you rather have your competition staring at the back wheels of your sleek Lexus as it goes screaming down the Big Profits Highway?
I thought so.
